Last week, John Lewis launched their always-legendary 2015 Christmas TV advert. Following on from that, many brands have kick-started their own Christmas campaigns to get customers excited for the official countdown!
From Disney toy Christmas trees in London’s Kings Cross to a touring Christmas #Cadvent calendar, we’re sharing our favourites in this week’s top PR campaigns blog post!
Beyond Christmas, gaming brand Xbox have also launched their creative campaign just in time for Black Friday, and other amazing campaigns to share including the biggest cheeseboard by Jacobs!
Xbox Tomb Raider Survival Billboard: Survival of the Grittiest
There are plenty of new releases across the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and WiiU in the lead up to Christmas, with the brands hustling to get gamers attention. Xbox have certainly stood out from the crowd with their latest campaign for Rise of the Tomb Raider.
At 1pm on 12th November, Xbox challenged eight fans to spend 24 hours on their very own survival billboard (it may be still live now depending when you are reading this).
Participants taking part in the challenge were blasted by arctic cold, intense winds, wild snowstorms and sudden heat- just like Lara Croft in Tomb Raider. However, these blasts of extreme weather were controlled by users at home through their survival billboard platform. Here, Xbox live streamed the event for 24 hours, showing how each participant reacted to the weather conditions caused by others.
The last person standing won a trip inspired by the gaming franchise! This was a great PR campaign Involving one of the biggest online communities!
Disney celebrates Christmas with a toy Christmas tree
On a softer note, this morning passers-by in London St Pancras were treated to a special sight of a Christmas tree entirely made by toys!
All of your favourite Disney characters from childhood feature on the Christmas tree, with on-lookers taking pictures and sharing them on social for others to see. This is a fun campaign to promote Disney Stores across the country in time for Christmas!
Cadbury promote their #Cadvent in time for 1st December
You may have already seen Cadbury’s Christmas TV advert focussing on promoting their fun Christmas campaign launching soon. On 1st December, Cadbury have created their own Christmas advent calendar in the shape of 24 purple Lorries.
On each day of the 24 days of Christmas, a special #Cadvent truck will set off and park up in a selected city centre and open its doors bringing (presumably) a truck-load of chocolate to the locals! You will be able to follow the hashtag #Cadvent on Twitter to find out whether one of the trucks will be coming near you!
Cadbury have stolen the lime-light from Coca Cola’s classic Christmas truck on this one; however, we love that Cadbury have joined in on the Christmas fun, engaging with their biggest chocolate fans around the country! Videos will be available post campaign – just to make you jealous should you miss out!

Roy Castle Lung cancer Foundation: Beatboxing which started with a cough
Stoptober has just finished and to continue raising awareness of lung cancer, Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation surprised early morning commuters to a ‘beatbox session’, which initially began with a cough. They aim to share the message that “a cough is more than just a cough”, and that coughing on the tube is often ignored.

Jacobs’s 40-meter cheeseboard takes over London for their 130th anniversary
On 11th November, Jacobs celebrated their 130th anniversary in London by creating the BIGGEST cheeseboard we have ever seen!
The 40-metre long cheeseboard stretched the entire length of Tower Bridge Walkway in Central London. The space was split into four zones to highlight the different combinations of Jacob’s crackers.
